The

Championship

The GB4 Championship partnered by the BRDC, is the UK’s newest and best value entry-level junior single-seater category in the UK. GB4 has been created to offer drivers graduating from karting or club racing a significantly lower cost route onto the single-seater ladder.

GB4 acts as a direct feeder series to higher open-wheel categories, running in close alignment with MSV’s already successful GB3 Championship partnered by the BRDC. GB4 runs primarily on the same British GT race programme, offering teams an excellent platform from which to enter both series.

2024

Season

The 2024 GB4 Championship will visit all the UK’s premier circuits, with sufficient track time to allow the drivers to learn their race craft, while keeping budgets manageable.

Predominantly supporting the British GT and GB3 Championship package, the championship will be contested over seven weekends between April and September at Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Oulton Park, Silverstone and Snetterton.

Championship

format

Each GB4 Championship race weekend includes a 15 minute qualifying session and three 18 minute races. The grid for the first two races is determined in qualifying, with each driver’s quickest lap forming the race one grid, and their second quickest laps establishing the starting order for race two.

The third race will be a full grid reversal with extra points awarded for positions gained as well as for each driver’s finishing position. All scores count towards a driver’s end of championship position.

The minimum age to compete in GB4 is 15, with the minimum licence requirement being Race Club. Testing is unrestricted.

GB4 will offer drivers the chance to contest a full season of competitive single-seater racing in Britain for budgets from around £60,000 for a privateer to an anticipated £120,000 to £150,000 running with a professional team.

A comprehensive prize package will be on offer, including a £50,000 prize fund for the championship winner towards their next single seater campaign the following season.

The race weekend shows include pre-race build-ups and post-race analysis, and offer followers of each championship more depth and detail, live from the track, than ever before. The live broadcasts also feature special pre-recorded segments, adding more compelling context to the racing in GB3 and GB4 this season.

The

Car

The Tatuus F4-T014 is one of the most successful single-seater cars produced in recent decades, with well over 200 examples manufactured since 2014 and driven by current F1 stars Lando Norris and Lance Stroll amongst others to launch their careers.

The car runs exactly as it did in Italian, ADAC and Spanish F4, meaning this is one of the most proven, reliable and equitable single-seaters available.

GB4’s F4-T014 utilises a carbon fibre Tatuus chassis and is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged Autotecnica Motori engine producing 160bhp. Engine parity is optimised by existing GB3 partner Mountune. The chassis is FIA-homologated, allowing drivers as young as 15 to race them.

It features a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shift provided by Sadev, with Magneti Marelli electronics.
